Veronica Machado, MA, LPC
I am a Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor (AZ LPC-22387) from Tucson, Arizona. It is important to me to know the culture, people, and issues in my home region and as a Latinx. I completed my Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health at Northern Arizona University and my undergraduate degree in Human Development and Psychology at Prescott College. I hold a post-master’s certificate in Equine-Assisted Mental Health from University of Denver’s Institute for Human-Animal Connection.
I am passionate about social justice issues, equity, family systems, and cultural issues, and I use a mix of evidence-based approaches enhanced by nature and horses and tailored to each client’s needs. This includes specific training in trauma-focused therapies such as EMDR and in mindfulness and attachment-based techniques. I work with mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, identity development, and I especially enjoy working with womxn and non-binary people of color / people who are racialized. I serve adults, adolescents, and preeteens.
I provide therapy via telehealth and in-person in the outdoor setting. Working outdoors and in nature provides me ways to enhance the therapeutic experience and our therapy relationship. This includes the opportunity to interact with horses as part of your treatment if of interest to you. Learn more about horses in therapy here.
